AsReader goes big at “RFID Journal LIVE!” 2025 as a sponsor and major exhibitor

Last updated:05/09/2025 12:31

As well as stepping up to the plate as a major sponsor, AsReader came armed to the RFID Journal LIVE! show 2025 in Las Vegas with 18 team members and partners. Founder and CEO Noriyuki Suzuki and Yuki Kurabawa from TEIJIN FRONTIER traveled to the show from Japan. Longtime RFID experts Mark Garner and Glen Garner came to the show booth from Canada. Chuck Phillips from Kyocera traveled from San Diego, Jay came from AIS via Kyocera and Sakuma-san and Yoshida-san joined us from logistics company LOGISTEED.

As well as a snappy bright red new lanyard to hold show badges, this show was different in that AsReader really hit home what makes our company different, to which many agreed; simply put, our products own many unique features, including RecoHand, AsCode, battery-less SLIM-Type, patented Reading TUB, and overall use of high-performance smartphones to scan volumes of objects in a business environment.

PHOTO: Although RFID Veteran Kris Doane couldn’t attend the show, AsReader had “Tap to Talk” chat sessions for people to video conference him from afar:

AsReader–which literally was named to “use your phone as a reader” carved out booth space to preview some interesting information about upcoming SLIM-Type devices that feel like a phone case, and yet read UHF RAIN RFID tags at a distance of 10 feet (3 meters). The modular SLED-Type / JACKET-Type devoces that AsReader has specialized in for years is now way thinner and cross compatible for iOS and Android. Case examples shown at the booth included one for Google Pixel 8a/7a/6a and another for iPhone 16e/16/15.

AsCode which many people were very interested in how fast the reads were. This new two-dimensional code demonstrated for one of the first times outside of Japan, makes it possible to manage a variety of information on a smartphone, which was previously difficult with barcodes. Simply put, AsCode is a new variation of the barcode, similar to a QR code.

AsReader’s booth also showcased Wearable RFID technology such as Teijin Frontier’s RecoHand™ a UHF wearable reader from a well-established textile manufacturer based in Japan for more than a century. This technology that confines radio waves and offers 1:1 touch reads, made from the same materialization as a golf glove, and was put to use by the Japanese government two years ago. Employees learned to scan bins by running their hands across products, and while grabbing the items they’re able to read it simultaneously. Used at hospitals’ warehouses for first responders and COVID-19 response, the Japanese government reported that using RecoHand more than doubled their productivity speed.

Many gathered to see AsReader’s three sizes of POS technology with RFID: large, medium and small:

Large: RFID POS Checkout technology continues to evolve with a large antenna tub with special shielding that keeps the reads to exactly where users want it. This tub is for self-checkout for shopping baskets.

Medium: AsReader’s new Desktop POS reader can read at checkout when a person is folding the clothing, for example, putting it neatly into a bag.

Small: AsReader’s Smart Jewelry Tray monitors all items going onto tray and coming off, thereby enhancing tracking, traffic and can identify stronger appeal items without relying solely on sales data. Due to this technology, the future of inventory for jewelry is RFID and AsReader shows how a stealthy RFID Reader located inside the jewelry tray can “watch” the items as they go on and off the tray for a customer.
