We’ve got a new Senior Sales Engineer at AsReader! His name is Jay Haldors and he comes to us from Nike, bringing a host of Blue Chip tech knowledge with him. Here’s a quick Q and A with Jay…

Q: What’s one thing you ‘d like to see AsReader do in the future?
A: I would love to see AsReader North America grow into a market leader and innovator in RFID and barcode scanner technology. By 2030, I envision it as a tight-knit team of 100+ amazing people, working together to achieve great things.

Q: Pump it up jam you could hear anyday. anytime and still sing along to?
A: That’s a tough as well because there are so many great pump-up jams I could listen to on repeat! From classic rock, I’d say AC/DC’s “Back in Black” is always a go-to, and honestly, pretty much any Queen song will do the trick—especially “We Will Rock You.” If we’re talking 90’s alternative, indie, or Manchester, I can’t get enough of: • Happy Mondays – “Step On” • Stone Roses – “I Want to Be Adored” • Black Grape – “Going to Get Higher” • Nine Inch Nails – “Down In It” And for something a little more current, I’d have to throw in Cold War Kids with “Freedom.”

Q: Favorite movie?
A: Jaws “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” – Chief Brody

Q: What’s one thing you hate that everyone seems to love?
A: I can’t get into the show The Bear, even my most ardent movie editor friend loves it…just makes me feel too gritty. Perhaps I need to give it another try. I love Norwegian Goat Cheese, my wife hates it to high heaven and tells me no one likes it.

Q: Star Trek, Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica?
A: Well, I’m a big Star Wars fan, but Battlestar Galactica holds a special place in my heart. Funny story: a crow, who used to visit our grade school yard (we called him Tut), once stole my Battlestar Galactica figurine. I’m still hoping he’ll return it one day, hehe

Q: What aspect of AsReader made you want to join the company?
A: I’m excited to join AsReader because of its unique blend of innovative technology and human connection. I believe that the best customer relationships are built when you can be authentic, and I look forward to creating an environment where customers feel more like partners or friends.

Q: What’s a bucket list spot to cycle someday?
A: Cycling has always been my first taste of freedom and independence. France certainly stands out, especially considering its rich cycling history. I often reflect on a quote from the 1980s Tour de France by commentator John Tesh, during a legendary battle in the mountains between Lemond and the Badger: “Is it strategy or vanity?” It’s a reminder that, in cycling and in life, we often have to balance between ambition and pride—sometimes vanity wins, but that’s part of the fun!
